Spring is a great time to discover the delights of birdwatching. Join ornithologist and Lit & Phil member Michael Turner to learn the basics of birdwatching. Saltwell Park is one of Britain’s finest examples of a Victorian Park and is Grade ll listed. It is also registered as a Garden of Specific Historic Interest by Historic England. Covering 55 acres is has 12 Grade ll listed structures. Against this stunning backdrop we will look at identifying birds by sight and sound and how to get the best out of this most enjoyable pastime.

The walk will be on regular footpaths with some slight gradients. Please bring binoculars and field guides if you have them and dress appropriately with stout foot wear. Sorry no dogs. Refreshments or lunch can be purchased in the café at Saltwell Towers where there will be an opportunity for an informal Q&A with Michael.

We will meet at the car park for a 10.30am start.
