Newcastle Festival of Jazz and Improvised Music are pleased to present Pianist and composer Paul Edis performing a solo set of music from his new solo album ‘At the still point of the turning world’.
In March 2020 Paul moved to London from Newcastle, just as lockdown measures were introduced with the COVID-19 Pandemic. In the following months, he spent more time than ever before developing his approach as a solo pianist, giving regular weekly live-streamed concerts, exploring a diverse repertoire whilst creating new compositions inspired by the ever changing, upside-down world around. This new music and more refined approach at the keyboard inspired Paul to record a new album in the Spring of 2021 with the backing of the London-based Lateralize label.
"A new voice in jazz.....a real jazz composer...a very thoughtful improviser”
- Andy Hamilton (Jazz Journal)
