Remembering the Accused Witches of Newcastle

Marking the 375th anniversary of the great Newcastle witch trial, the Lit & Phil hosts a panel of historians, campaigners and authors discussing how best to remember the victims across Tyneside, Northumberland and Durham, including:

Why did Tyneside witness Britain’s biggest witch trial?
How can such significant events have been all but forgotten?
What caused Scotland to recognise and commemorate its own witch hunts?
What are the lessons for our own 375th anniversary?

A. D. Bergin, author of recent break-out historical fiction, ‘The Wicked Of The Earth’, which details the Newcastle trial and its aftermath, is joined by Tynedale based Sue Reed, author of the inspiring ‘The Rewilding Of Molly McFlynn’, Zoe Venditozzi and Claire Mitchell, authors of the newly-released sensation ‘How to Kill A Witch’, alongside Judith Langlands-Scott historian and ‘Witches of Scotland’ podcaster.
