The Pudding Chare Festival not only supports musicians but also composers and for our 3rd commision we have the Guernsey-born Newcastle based composer Emily Linane whose work involves heritage and creating music responses to it.
Taking its name from the winding lane that stands opposite the Lit & Phil, the Pudding Chare Music Festival celebrates the rich chamber music repertoire each Summer, showcasing young classical musicians from the North East and further afield who are currently training at conservatoires and universities around the country.
During the festival week, talented teenaged musicians from the local area receive coaching from the festival musicians and performance opportunities. Our festival musicians also perform in primary schools around Newcastle with the aim of inspiring the next generation of musicians.
The Pudding Chare Festival is grateful for the Community Foundation and Hadrian Trust for their continued support as well as our individual sponsor Mr England.
