Inspired by: The Progress of Solar Research | 11 of 11
Events List

Tuesday 9th December | 6pm
Northumbria University “Inspired By” Science Lecture Series. 11 of 11.
Richard Morton, Associate Professor, Mathematics, Physics and Electrical Engineering, and UKRI Future Leader Fellow.
Richard’s research seeks to understand the role magnetohydrodynamic waves play in transferring energy through the Sun’s atmosphere, powering the heating of the million-degree solar wind and its acceleration to a million miles per hour. He has recently completed a successful project called ‘Imagining the Sun’, working with schools, education authorities, artists and poets, to deliver a combined science and art programme.
Dr Patrick Antolin, Associate Professor, School of Engineering, Physics and Mathematics
Patrick’s fields of expertise are magnetohydrodynamics (MHD), waves and instabilities. His research focuses on solar atmospheric phenomena and in particular: Coronal heating by MHD waves and associated dynamic instabilities, and Coronal cooling processes (coronal rain and prominences), thermal instabilities and non-equilibrium.
