No stranger to the Lit & Phil, or Books on Tyne, Gerald Dickens returns with his acclaimed one man show. The great great grandson of Charles Dickens brings to life the enduring Christmas tale, playing more than 30 characters. Don’t miss this early Yuletide treat which has received standing ovations all over the world.

For the 14th year, Newcastle Libraries and the Lit & Phil have come together to present Books on Tyne 2026. Offering a wide range of events in many subject areas, from the history of the World Cup and Newcastle Prison, to growing up alongside 1970s rock stars and the tragedy of Sycamore Gap, our festival continues to celebrate the written word.
