The idea of excavating in Egypt still has an exotic and adventurous appeal for anyone interested in archaeology. This talk will discuss how work in Egypt is organised, funded and presented through the authorities in Egypt and universities around the world. The potential of Egyptian archaeology will be set into the context of the challenges that it presents using case studies from sites through Egypt that Penny has worked on and researched.
