Mon, Tue, Thu & Fri: 10am-12pm & 1pm-4pm
Wed 10am-12pm, 1pm-4pm (5pm-7pm on 9 Dec only)
Sat (5 & 19 Dec only) 10am-1pm
Christmas Closure: we close 4pm 23 Dec 2020 & re-open 10am 4 Jan 2021

Truly unique and perfectly situated near Newcastle's Central Station
If you're looking for inspirational surroundings for your event, these rooms have witnessed world firsts and hosted renowned speakers. The Main Library is perfect when you really want to impress, and can hold up to 150 people for a non-seated event. For a more formal lecture, choose from the Loftus or Lecture Rooms, where 100 can be seated comfortably. The prestigious Committee Room is where the Board of Trustees meet each month, and have done since 1825 and is also available for hire.
As well as the rooms shown below, there is a lecture theatre (also on the ground floor and next to the The Loftus Room) which can seat a maximum of 95 and has an overhead projector.

The Knott Room
A spectacular and memorable venue for your social gathering or business event.
The Committee Room
Accessed via the library's gallery, the Committee Room seats 20 around a table.
The Joseph Swan Room
A ground floor room, suitable for meetings or workshops. Can be configured to your requirements.
The Loftus Room
A practical ground floor room, ideal for your larger meeting, lectures, training or workshops. The room is equipped with an overhead projector and a full size grand piano is available in this room. Seats 100 maximum.
