CaroleW Productions and Back of the Attic presents
A tale of truly heroic failure
A one-man show by Craig Methven
Britain is going South!
In 1912 Captain Scott lost a race to the bottom of the world, and his life. But Apsley Cherry-Garrad survived, and he’s here to tell the tragic tale of heroic failure.
Between amateur juggling and accidental burlesque one man attempts to expose himself to the dangerous elements of the outside world with comedy, clowning and song.
Going South! is a one-man comedic storytelling show written and performed by Craig Methven, based on the true story of Scott’s ill-fated expedition. Going South! follows ‘Cherry’s’ attempts to make sense of the tragic loss of his friends, and the failure of the expedition, while also trying to keep it light, keep it funny and entertain the audience who have come to hear a Great British hero, as he stands in for the dead Captain on his ‘victory’ tour, now in Newcastle to coincide with the 108th anniversary of their great achievement!
Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th January 2020
