Raymond Tallis is a retired physician and clinical neuroscientist. He ran a large clinical service in Hope Hospital Salford and an academic department in the University of Manchester. His research focussed on epilepsy, stroke, and neurological rehabilitation.
RAYMOND TALLIS has published fiction, poetry, and 25 books on the philosophy of mind, philosophical anthropology, literary and cultural criticism. Sunburst is his fourth volume of verse and the third to be published by IRON Press.
Tallis has four honorary degrees for his contributions to the humanities and his research in medicine.
In 2009, the Economist Intelligent Life Magazine describe him as one of the world’s leading polymaths. Writing in Scotland on Sunday critic Stuart Kelly said that “Raymond Tallis one of the very few contemporary thinkers I would unequivocally call a genius”.
And he is the only IRON Press poet to have been invited onto BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.
