Book Your Event
A talk by Ian Mcardle
This talk examines two major events that took place in 1919 as men and women struggled to come to terms with the tragic losses from the years of bitter conflict. These events were the Peace Parade and Pageants of July and the Great Silence of the 11th of November. Tyneside played its full part in both celebrations and commemoration and much of the talk will attempt to portray something of the atmosphere that must have prevailed in our region at that sad and difficult time.
