Merchants, Chaplains and Scholars in Ottoman Aleppo FREE

This talk explores the careers of a number of English chaplains who served in Aleppo in Ottoman Syria during the seventeenth-century, and, through this, explores
English and broader European interest in the languages, religions, and antiquities, of the Eastern Mediterranean in the early modern period.

We are pleased to announce another regular series of free public talks given by academic historians from Newcastle University. This is an opportunity to remember and reforge the common heritage of the two institutions.
