Book Your Event
As anyone who visited the L&P’s two postcard exhibitions (more to come) will realise, this talk offers something more visually exciting than just a potted history of the postcard. Inexpensive and readily available, designed to be sent but always collected, these cards record the fads, fashions and humour of previous generations, with a range of imagery that ranges from the inexplicably dull to the outrageously surreal. With an emphasis on their design, iconography and sentiments, these postcards have survived their ephemeral origin to open windows onto an unexpectedly wide history of taste and attitude.
