Ghostly Lit & Phil Tour FREE

Some people consider The Lit & Phil to be one of the most haunted buildings in Newcastle. It seems that some of those who have frequented it over the years have left their mark and don’t want to leave, even after they have passed on.

Visitors and staff have heard footsteps and the sound of pages being turned, when there is no-one around. Some have experienced the feeling of been watched from the balconies when entering the library. The most active location is the basement book store, where unexplained electromagnetic field readings have been reported, as well as other events.

The Lit & Phil ghosts have been identified by organisations who have carried out overnight ghost hunts within the building. During the tour we tell stories of the ghosts who walk the corridors and rooms of the library, allowing visitors into places which are normally off limits, even to members.

This tour is led by Pat Lowery, Blue Badge Guide and one of our most experienced volunteer guides. Pat has researched the stories and has experienced strange and unexplained events herself.

The tour is FREE but please reserve a place.
