Heritage Open Day: Tours all day FREE

The Lit & Phil was opened in 1825 and is one of the few beautiful buildings in Newcastle to retain its original purpose. We now have over 170,000 books, as well as 10,000 CDs, periodicals, LPs, scores and miniature scores.

The Lit & Phil has a fascinating history and other Societies and Organisations have originated here.

Come and have a look around the lovely Lit & Phil. Our guides will explain the history of the building on a 45 minute tour. The Library will be OPEN all day, you are welcome to spend time here before or after the tour.

Today tours are on at: 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm and 2.30pm

The Lit & Phil is also giving tours on 7th and 8th September as part of Heritage Open Day.
