Born in Leeds, guitarist Edison Herbert studied at Yorkshire College of Music and Drama and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (London). Touring worldwide in Clarke Peters’ West End stage production Unforgettable: The Nat King Cole Story, Edison appeared on Sky Arts’ series Guitar Star (2016) and in 2023 received an official nomination at the Hollywood Independent Music Awards. Edison’s music has been broadcast on BBC Radio 4 and independent radio stations from London to Los Angeles.

Performing in numerous settings (solo, trio, quartet, big band), Edison has appeared at jazz clubs throughout the country, including Seven Arts (Leeds), Matt and Phred’s (Manchester), Peggy’s Skylight (Nottingham) and Soho Pizza Express and Toulouse Lautrec (London) and at many prestigious festivals, including Brecon Jazz Festival and Leeds Jazz Festival. Wes Montgomery, Grant Green and George Benson are touchstones.

Commenting on Edison’s guitar playing, George Benson said: You’re one of the few cats who can make that thing sound so good.

For his Lit & Phil debut Edison Herbert will perform with his top class double bass and drums trio.
