Daniel John Martin, virtuoso violinist.

Born in Congleton, Cheshire, a childhood spent in Dakar and Johannesburg, virtuoso violinist Daniel John Martin is a prominent figure on the Paris jazz scene. Mentored by the late, great Didier Lockwood, conservatoire trained ‘DJM’, as he is affectionately known, maintained a long residency in the French capital at Aux Petit Joueurs.

DJM performs throughout Europe and the United Kingdom, sharing concert platforms with many of the finest exponents of the ‘Gypsy jazz’ idiom, including Angelo Debarre, Boulou Ferré, Noé Reinhardt and Tchavalo Schmitt. He appears frequently in London (Crazy Coqs, Soho Pizza Express, Gypsy Jazz Festival of London) and at festivals throughout the country.

For his Lit & Phil debut, direct from Paris, DJM will renew acquaintance with Mick Shoulder’s Swing Manouche. Daniel John Martin is an extraordinary talent, book now, it is sure to be one of the hottest tickets in town!
